Performance and specifications
The main task of a radio personality is to entertain an audience during a given time slot.
Many radio personalities work at prime time during the morning and evening rush hours.
Radio personalities serve all genres in radio, including news/talk, sports and music.
The more listeners a radio personality has, the more the station can charge sponsors for advertising time.
To fill the time, radio personalities can present skits, take input from the audience or interview special guests.
Radio personalities may also have to make personal appearances to promote themselves, a sponsor and the radio station itself.
They'll sometimes broadcast during one of these appearances, which is called doing a field spot.
At smaller stations, radio personalities may also have to keep up with paperwork while on the air or doing a live broadcast.
For statistical purposes, they make notes of which songs or advertiser spots they've played.
A recognized University Degree in Mass Communication, Humanities, Marketing, Accountancy, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology (ICT), Business Administration, Social Sciences, Theatre Arts
Possession of a Master's Degree and/or Membership of relevant professional professional bodies will be an added advantage
Applicants with exceptional abilities from other fields with at least 2 years previous job experience in a professional environment may also apply.
